The active ingredients in ProBlen Rest Assure include: Calcium, Melatonin, Inositol, 5-HTTP, Magnesium and Niacin, as well as a Proprietary Blend consisting of Passion Flower, Valerian Root, Hops Strobile, Lemon Balm Leaf, Chamomile Flower and Skullcap. We were rather troubled that some of the ingredient names used in the formulary were spelled incorrectly on the company website. This illustrated to us that this developer may have a limited understanding of the elements used in this formula, which is unsettling.

While reviewing ProBlen Rest Assure’s formulary, we found that it uses some elements that have some well known contraindications and side effects, however there were not mentioned on this product’s website. We found this development to be extremely disconcerting, because we believe that consumers deserve full access to all the relevant information about a product’s formulary. This formula also uses elements that have not been found to specifically induce sleep.

Also, while some studies have shown Valerian Root to augment sleep, other research has shown it is ineffective, indicating that further studies need to be conducted. Research has shown, however, side effects associate with this ingredient, including headaches, insomnia and agitation.

Passion Flower is an extract that has been incorporated into many sleep aids because of ts purported anxiety reducing properties. However, its use as a sleep aid has not been extensively studied, nor has it been proven to be fact. Also, side effects have been associated with Passion Flower, some of which are confusion, dizziness and nausea. Also, some species of Passion Flower contain cyanide-like chemicals in small qualities; although these species are not commonly used in medical supplements. It can be hard at ascertain which variety is in a particular sleep aid.

Skullcap has been purported to potentially cause liver damage, so individuals who have any liver related condition may want to avoid use of this element. Clearly additional studies need to be conducted on this element as well.

We were glad to see testimonials posted on this website because we know that many consumers actively seek out this type of feedback to understand a product’s effectiveness. However, we were disheartened to see that only three testimonials were posted, and while they were positive in nature, the fact that only three were available was troubling. We also would have appreciated some research related data regarding the elements used in the formula.

Clearly, we have some concerns regarding the elements used in ProBlen Rest Assure because of their potential side effects. However, the good news is that this product does use some elements that we believe are extremely effective in augmenting sleep naturally and safely. Melatonin, Hops and Lemon Balm Leaf are three heavy duty sleep aids. Many herbal supplements available on the market today contain all three powerful elements, without the potentially dangerous side effects of unnecessary ingredients.
