At first glance, the Malibu Pilates Chair resembles a common stepstool; however, it is supposed to facilitate a host of arm, leg, abdomen, and other exercises. The “seat” of the chair is used for sitting during leg exercises (performed with the resistance “pedals”) and for stability during other routines. There are a number of routines possible with this small unit, several of them focused on the midsection.

Malibu Pilates is sold with a $14.95 + $29.95 s&h “Risk Free Trial Offer.” After 30 days, if the product is not returned, the customer’s credit card is charged an additional $49.95, six times over. Thus, the total cost of keeping the unit is nearly $350. Most people find this price to be way too expensive for what it is. Obviously the website only mentions the total cost in fine print and the six payments are spread out so that the customers don’t see a large charge at once. There are a lot of far more advanced toning devices for less money. Those interested in strengthening and toning the stomach may want to check out the FDA approved Flex Belt for example.
Looking at the fine print on the site – you will see that the ‘satisfaction guarantee’ is not 100% money-back simply because the initial $14.95 + $29.95 s&h is not refunded upon return. Additionally any of the monthly payments that customers are billed for are not refundable. It is also important to note that the only way you can get the company to stop billing your credit card is to send the unit back after calling them to receive a RMA number. So it is not exactly easy to take advantage of their ‘satisfaction guarantee’.
