Review
Summary |
There are thousands of diet products on the market, making it very difficult to find out which ones are good supplements and which ones are merely gimmicks. This confusion is only complicated by odd billing policies and poor customer service. VitaPower advertises itself as a full multivitamin that will also assist with weight loss, but we feel that these claims may be misleading. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We will research this product to see what it has to offer and what may keep it from being a good option. |

|
VitaPower, a series of supplement pills, apparently contains little more than a long list of vitamins and minerals. There are no fat burners, metabolism boosters or appetite suppressants, making it little more than a multivitamin series. Even worse, this multivitamin series contains nothing unusual to a single multivitamin pill found in the supermarket aisle. There is almost no other information on this product online other than several negative reviews, which we will discuss later.

Guthy Renker Nutrition, the maker of VitaPower, only mentions this product on grnvitapower.com—the official GRN site no longer lists any information on this product line. This same company also retails Proactiv Solution, one of the most popular acne medications today. It appears that most of the sales for VitaPower were actually made through sales of Proactiv, leading us to the customer comments we found online.
While the official web presence is lacking, the unofficial web presence (i.e. reviews and complaints on the Internet) is staggering, and all of the outside presence is negative. Consumers can find several complaints simply by searching for the product with a popular search engine. The complaints usually communicate the concern over shipping and billing policies, although a few mention the effectiveness of the product as well. Almost all of the consumers mentioned that even after they canceled their orders of VitaPower, the company still continued to bill them (anywhere from $33 to $63 per month) for the supplements. Often these supplements were either not sent or were sent to an old address, and the only way to receive a refund was to send the product back. Consumers also received terrible customer service when attempting to cancel their autoship program or receive a refund, with representatives accusing the consumers of lying and trying to cheat them. These complaints are classic signs of an outright fraudulent program, and consumers probably communicated this idea well enough to eliminate this product from the market. This speaks volumes of the power of Internet presence—if it is positive, you have a chance; but if it is negative, it may be the death of the product.

From what we can find, the only location from which consumers can purchase Vitapower is eBay. Otherwise, the product appears to have left the market completely. On eBay, the price varies from auction to auction, and the product supply is very limited. This is a sign that this product has lost any credibility in the market, so we suggest consumers avoid it, no matter how low the cost.

 | Conclusion |
|
It appears that once again people are using the diet market to scam consumers out of their hard-earned money. VitaPower was little more than a multivitamin, but the business practices its company used to sell the product were atrocious. The autoship program is used to its most insulting end when consumers cannot cancel shipments they don’t want, and VitaPower makes this point quite vivid. Fortunately, this product has left the market because of diligent consumers who have made it very clear that the company is only out to cheat customers out of money, and the result is the company’s removal of the product from the market. The best way to stay ahead of these dangerously deceptive products is to carefully research each product before purchasing it. There are numerous legitimate and effective products on the market that can be safely and securely purchased online. Consumers do not need to fall for these awful tricks.
