Ultima:Patch™ |
 |
Review
Summary |
The UltimaPatch promises to deliver all of the benefits of pills, shakes, and diets, but without the hassle. Wearing the UltimaPatch for 72 hours (on the shoulder, arm, back, or any dry, hairless area on the upper body) will supposedly make the consumer feel fuller more quickly, thus lowering caloric intake. Along with these simple instructions, one need only drink 8-10 8oz glasses of water per day in order to become a new and improved person.
Unfortunately, patch technology is not always a good thing, as many ingredients to not do well with dermal transport. Results are often inconsistent as some ingredients fail to reach their intended goal. For best results, tablets and capsules which get standardized amounts of ingredients into the system are best.

UltimaPatch delivers Fucus Vesiculosus (kelp), Green Tea, and Guarana.
Fucus Vesiculosus (kelp), rich in iodine, is said to aid in the regulation of metabolism and in the elimination of toxins from the body.
Green Tea Extract is thought to increase the body’s metabolism, and thus aid in the weight loss. However the extract contains large amount of caffeine and has been known to cause negative side effects including nausea, insomnia, nervousness, elevated heart rate and increased blood pressure. Guarana comes from a climbing plant that produces fruit with seeds that contain approximately three times more caffeine than coffee beans. It has traditionally been used as an aphrodisiac and an energizer. UltimaPatch attempts to differentiate the type of caffeine in Guarana from the “artificially induced” caffeine of soft drinks. This move is somewhat unconvincing though, as it is not clear that soft drink caffeine is artificial, but that it is “artificially induced,” and so the presence of the caffeine in the UltimaPatch is not convincingly different from the presence of caffeine in other products. The negative side-effects are the same as regular caffeine offers.

 | Website In Focus |
|
UltimaPatch.com is sleek and somewhat informative. However, the site mentions that the models illustrating the weight loss are paid, and are only “graphic representations of weight loss customers.” This is somewhat misleading. In addition, the product is clearly aimed at females, and the testimonial section includes only one from a male. The site is yet another disturbing example of the double standard of dieting culture, and the unnatural focus of female image market. In addition, the site does not develop the ways in which the patch is unique or effective, over against supplements. Without this information, the idea of a patch that can cause weight loss seems like a gimmick.

 | Final Thoughts |
|
UltimaPatch.com is correct to encourage a healthy diet and regular exercise, and in this sense, the company seems to be genuinely interested in helping its customers lose weight and maintain healthy lifestyles. However, the inclusion of paid models and the slant of the marketing toward females all seem to suggest that UltimaPatch is ultimately interested in abusing the poor self-image encouraged and cultivated by the diet market. So long as the patch is seen as an extra tool to healthy diet and regular exercise, it may be somewhat beneficial. But as a solution on its own, it seems like a clear sticker that will need ripping off every few days. Hopefully it’s not as sticky as a band-aid.
People looking to lose weight should consider finding a healthy eating plan that they like and can live with long term. You should also exercise each day by doing an activity that is fun and enjoyable. Water is extremely important too, and dieters need a lot of it to stay hydrated and to keep their bodies free of toxins. Finally, try the addition of a supplement specifically designed to help with weight loss. Be sure that the product you choose includes the two key elements all effective diet products need; a fat-burner to rid the body of excess weight on the arms, hips, belly, thighs and buttocks, and an appetite suppressant to help control caloric intake and keep cravings at bay. Many good intentions are ruined by cravings that take us over and sabotage our dieting efforts. If you combine all these elements, along with patience and diligence, you will see the pounds come off.
