Created by Jordan Rubin, this diet originated from Rubin's own near death experience which he suffered at age19. At that time, he was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease after dramatically going from 180 pounds to 104 pounds in a matter of weeks. For The Maker's Diet, ingredients used within the meals include Organic Meats, Fruits and Vegetables, and other natural foods such as grains, nuts and seeds. The program consists of three easy two-week phases, which Rubin refers to as the 40-day program. The first phase is devoted to “cleansing the body” and correcting “imbalances,” which may prove to be the most challenging aspect of this program, but this certainly makes sense – we can’t heal unless we detoxify. In this phase of the plan, dieters step-down from artificial additives and processed foods as well as caffeine and preservatives. Rubin’s program supplies many delicious recipes to help the dieter get through this period.
The second and third phases of the program help the dieter to re-introduce some foods they may have had to give up – however Rubin mentions that most dieters feel so well, that the desire to return to old eating habits often doesn’t materialize.
This program also advocates the washing of hands frequently during the day to reduce the impact of germs – and the addition of exercise – all mentioned in Biblical text.
