The Lemonade Diet is another name for the Master Cleanse Diet, which was developed by the late Naturopath Stanley Burroughs. According to the official website, this diet includes fasting that lasts for 7-10 days in order to rid the body of toxins that are present in the organs, blood, and digestive tract due to an improper diet, lack of exercise, and even negative mental attitudes. It is claimed that the diet will dissolve and eliminate toxins and congestion; cleanse the kidneys and digestive system; purify glands; eliminate waste and hardened “materials” in the joints and muscles; build a healthy bloodstream; maintain optimal blood pressure; and of course, cause weight loss. The website claims you can expect a superior weight loss, reducing “fat at a rate of about two pounds a day”.
The official website points out that this is a cleansing diet and any weight loss is an added benefit. In this sense they do not call the program a weight loss diet, but rather a ‘reducing diet’.

This diet program consists of The Master Cleanser book, 1 quart Maple syrup, 1 pouch cayenne pepper, 16 bag box of Laxative tea, 10 bags Natural PepperMint tea, 10 bags Natural Green tea, 7 oz. Sea Salt, 1 32 oz Sports bottle, and 1 brochure of a simplified lemonade recipe.
The contents of the starter kit are used to mix up the various concoctions that are to be consumed for the 7-10 days you follow the cleansing diet. Every morning you will drink a laxative herb tea or drink an “Internal Salt Water Bathing” and every evening you will drink a laxative herb tea as well.
