The Hunza Miracle |
 |
Review
Summary |
The Hunza Miracle is a recipe for bread thought to be first made by a Himalayan people group known for their health and longevity. Some websites have called this people group the Hunza people, and others have said that Hunza is simply the Hungarian word for “raisins.” Whatever story one prefers, the main ingredient of this diet fad is a slice, or a number of slices, of dense and roughage-filled bread, well placed throughout the day, to aid in appetite control. The most concrete claim has been that a slice of Hunza Bread eaten ten minutes before mealtime will decrease food intake at mealtime by 25%. Other suggestions include eating a slice every five hours (approximately 300 calories), eating a slice for breakfast and a slice three hours before supper, or eating two slices every four hours (approximately 800 calories).

Hunza Bread recipes vary, depending on the website, but this can prove beneficial to the consumer, as it frees him/her up for making the bread to preference. It also precludes a company’s holding the recipe at ransom, though there is a Hunza Bread Mix with Buckwheat available from Sweden. As the recipes vary, and in the end are still recipes for bread, which call for certain conventions, the variations only are of interest. For roughage, it is recommended that the recipe include raisins, apricots, nuts, seeds, dates, or the like, but only a minimal amount, as these ingredients do add calories over and above what is necessary. Beyond the roughage, Hunza Bread is rich in calcium, manganese, phosphorus, iron, and potassium.
Calcium can regulate how fat is stored and how fat is broken down by the body.
Manganese can break down fatty acids, promote thyroid function, and maintain blood sugar levels. Phosphorus can aid in metabolizing fat, protein, and carbohydrates. Iron and potassium are, obviously, always helpful.

As mentioned above, one need not buy the prefab bread mix, which runs at 5 pounds for $18.04 and 25 pounds for $80.93. One need only run, or jog, to the grocery to buy the ingredients, many of which will already be in the average, well stocked kitchen.

 | Website In Focus |
|
Hunzamiracle.net is an ambiguous experience at best. As a .net, and not a .com, there is no need for “them” to maintain a center of information. Rather, the site is a loose accumulation of related sites, which have more or less to do with Hunza Bread, or the idea of eating bread to curb appetite. On the upside, though, there is no “them” trying their best to market a product, and making any number of outrageous claims. In this sense, the website is somewhat refreshing, as the site visitor may be less apt to feel beaten over the head with incredible information.

 | Positives |
|
Depending on the recipe, Hunza Bread is all natural, even organic, if one chooses
Dieter preference can be accounted for, and the bread may even be delicious
|
 | Negatives |
Their customers do not like them at all and have negative things to say about their experiences. Click here to read a popular Hunza Bread blog.
The lack of a program could render the bread ineffectual, or just another thing to eat
What, if anything, sets Hunza Bread apart from eating a big, healthy salad before a meal?
An inexperienced eater/dieter may make less healthy bread, lacking in essential nutrients
One cannot live on bread alone

 | Final Thoughts |
|
Hunza Bread, while perhaps not a “miracle,” does seem to be a viable option for the health-conscious dieter, though perhaps not the sole option, as a big salad would also aid in appetite suppression. A slice of bread does seem to be an improved option over against introducing hormones or the like into the body in order to suppress the appetite. The dieter may be glad to see the potential here for all natural, and even organic, ingredients, and so Hunza Bread may truly be something good for the body. However, to call it a “miracle” in the hopes of convincing dieters that it will truly aid in dropping the pounds seems to be a bit of a stretch. Rather than a supernatural slice, perhaps it would better to imagine it as simply one aid among many, including a healthy, balanced diet.
If you are seeking a weight loss supplement, be sure and choose a product with ingredients that address both aspects of successful dieting. A proven fat-burner is needed to address excess fat on the arms, belly, hips, thighs and buttocks, and a modern appetite suppressant is needed to control caloric intake and help curb cravings. Effective weight loss happens when both dieting needs are addressed. Add a healthy eating plan, and exercise – and you will have success.
