Reliv’s official website provides no information on Ultrim-Plus, and ingredients are listed only partially on other sites. The central ingredients in Ultrim-Plus include Advantra Z™, Tonalin (CLA), and L-Carnatine, as well as a long list of vitamins and nutrients essential to general health.

Advantra Z™ is the patented form of Citris Aurantium, or Bitter Orange. Advantra Z™ uses the Citrus Aurantium fruit extract to help burn fat, eliminating unwanted weight. This ingredient is considered highly effective and safe in the diet supplement world, however, it should not be used by pregnant or nursing women, those with heart or blood pressure problems, or those taking an MAOI. If you have a medical condition, or are taking medication, please consult your physician before using this product.

Tonalin, a brand name of Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), is derived from safflower oil. Tonalin inhibits the breakdown of fat during digestion, and by doing so prevents fat from being stored in the body—instead it simply passes through the system unchanged. When combined with a healthy diet and exercise, this can help the consumer reduce overall body fat and develop better lean muscle mass.

L-Carnatine is an essential amino acid that carries long-chain fatty acids across the mitochondrial membrane in order to produce ATP, the most basic energy source in the body. This increased energy production helps burn fat and gives the consumer a boost of energy from the product. Other included ingredients are Non-GMO Whole Bean Soy and CitriMax™. CitriMax™ is a concentrated from of the Hydroxycitric Acid found in the Garcinia Cambogia fruit, a native evergreen fruit of India. CitriMax™ helps burn fat and decreases hunger through the inhibiting of Coenzyme A (CoA), which helps synthesize fatty acids. By decreasing this synthesis, less fat is produced and stored in the body. Non-GMO Whole Bean Soy is said to help burn fat and build lean muscle by providing omega-3 essential fatty acids.

Consumers are directed to replace 2 meals a day with the Ultrim-Plus shake mix, providing a full serving of calories in a healthy fat-burning blend. However, we are concerned that the hunger suppressant may not be strong enough to keep dieters from purging during the full meal. No side effects were listed for this product.

A single canister of Reliv Ultrim-Plus sells retail for $25.00, but is not available through direct online purchasing—all purchases must go through an independent Reliv distributor. No shipping information, then, is available, and there is no return policy offered online. You may also be able to find some of these products available through online auction sites for a much lower price, but this method of purchasing is not recommended.

Reliv’s official site does not provide any information on Ultrim-Plus, leading us to believe it has been discontinued or is currently unavailable in the United States. Other sites do contain some information on the product, but overall, the information available online is limited and one-dimensional. There were no testimonials available to support the product’s success, and there are few ingredient lists available. The biggest disappointment is that the manufacturer’s site provides absolutely no information (and hardly even a mention) on the product. This is a huge red flag, leaving the consumer with almost nothing to go by in terms of informed purchasing.

The shake diet craze is a big one, and Reliv’s Ultrim-Plus is just another diet to add to the pile. While it does include fat burners, energy boosters, and a hunger suppressant, there is no way of telling how effective the product is. In fact, the Reliv website provides absolutely no information on the product—only a single mention of the product in a distributor testimonial. We simply cannot put our faith in a product that is almost invisible online. Ultrim-Plus seems to only exist in very limited supply, and most commonly in resale supply on auction sites. Consumers have no way of purchasing this product except through an independent distributor. It sounds like a good enough concept, but there simply isn’t enough information out there for Ultrim-Plus to be classified as a reliable diet product.

If you are seeking a weight loss supplement, be sure and choose a product that clearly and definitively represents itself with all the information you need concerning the product itself and the company that makes it; and choose a product with ingredients that address both aspects of successful dieting. A proven fat-burner is needed to address excess fat on the arms, belly, hips, thighs and buttocks, and a modern appetite suppressant is needed to control caloric intake and help curb cravings. Effective weight loss happens when both dieting needs are addressed. Add a healthy eating plan, and exercise – and you will have success.
