Benicar® is a hypertension (high blood pressure) medicine. Hypertension is often referred to as the “silent killer,” and there are a number of factors that could contribute to its development. Medications like Benicar® are available to address this condition. This drug can be used in conjunction with other hypertension medicines for hypertension therapy. It is not clear, from the Benicar website, at least, how successful Benicar® has been in the battle against hypertension. One assumes by the quality of the site that we’re not dealing here with a fluke or a gimmick. Benicar® is Olmesartan Medoxomil. It functions as an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). This means, very simply, that it blocks the substance, angiotensin II, in the body’s arteries and veins. This substance has been linked to the increase of blood pressure.
Possible side effects of Benicar® can include dizziness, nausea, heightened levels of uric acid in the blood, and upper respiratory tract infection. According to clinical trial evidence posted on Benicar’s® website, however, the incidence of such side effects was rather low.
