Ballerina Tea Extra Strength is a caffeine free herbal dietary supplement. Its source allegedly comes from a 16th century Chinese medicine book and has been in existence ever since. Allegedly used by dancers to help keep their weight down, dosage directions suggest one tea bag brewed in 10 oz of boiling water. Let it steep for 5 minutes before drinking. They also suggest increasing the dosage slowly until a person is able to drink one cup of tea three times a day after each meal. Although the tea claims to be stimulant free, it does contain Green Tea which contains caffeine alkaloids. Caffeine has been known to cause nervousness, insomnia, elevated heart rate and increased blood pressure. The product also contains Senna, a well known laxative. This type of stimulant/laxative product has been around for a long time and its long-term value to dieters has long been in question. |

We tried several times to research Chinese Mallow but found only a link which contained the plants genealogy, a picture or where it grows. Cinnamon Bark can potentially regulate blood sugar which in turn could help with weight loss.

The website did offer some general information about the product but explanations for each of the ingredients were lacking. There did seem to be a few warnings about this product posted by customers. Those with intestinal problems might want to consider the laxative properties of this product before purchasing it. Everything that was available on the website was easy to locate and access. There was no scientific or medical research provided to support this product. The only thing given as proof was that this tea recipe was found in a Chinese book of medicine from the 1500’s. It would have been nice to see translated excerpts from the book to help prove this statement.

We appreciate that Ballerina Tea is an all natural dietary beverage, and the packaging and marketing is very clever. The researched ingredients and their benefits are well known to the public. Unfortunately there seem to be a good number of potential side effects listed, such as diarrhea, stomach cramps and nausea. And there are very specific instructions on how to very gradually introduce more tea into the diet. This suggests to us that the tea is extremely strong and could have very bad side effects when taken by those who do not follow the directions. We can not really consider this product to be a weight loss product because it lacks any known effective ingredients that either burn fat or suppress the appetite. The only way it potentially seems to cause weight loss is through stimulating the elimination system. We wonder how the original ballerinas coped with the side-effects. This might be part of a diet program if some people need to stimulate their elimination system, but it is far from being complete. Dieters should choose a product containing an appetite suppressant, and a fat-burner for maximum success.
